Moe's - Cuyahoga Falls

Goat cheese, dried cherries, and sugared walnut salad
Tenderloin monthly special

This is one of our favorite places to go and relax with a drink.  Its is located by the car dealers on front street.  Within walking distance from Falls River Square it is tucked away, but still close.  There is a bar side and a fine dining side.  Both sides can get the food, but one is more quiet and intimate and the other is a loud bar.  They have a stocked bar with seasonal beers and a great wine list.  The bartenders are great and know how to make great martinis.  The espresso martini is a great way to start the night after a long day.  I always go in and tell the guys I want some wine; they bring me one or two they think I will like and let me try them before I buy a glass.  They have nice big wine glasses :)  The food is also good.  They have monthly seasonal menus that are always unique and well made.  This month they had a salmon and a tenderloin dish.  Usually it is things that are unique and tasty.

The Moe Betta Burger is one of my favorite burgers.  The salad with goat cheese, dried cherries, and sugared walnuts is great.  The creme brulee is my favorite, some months they have different flavors which are also good.  I have never gotten anything here I didn't like.  The food and wine is somewhat pricey, but the atmosphere is good too.  The employees are very friendly and have many regulars. They also have a catering company, and the food is just as good.  So, whatever you are looking for they have it at Moe's.

North End - Hudson

North End is a nondescript building a few miles north of downtown Hudson on Darrow Rd.  When you first enter you notice the coolers of exotic beers and the bar.  When you continue on into the restaurant you walk into a wine haven.  Shelves of wine lines the walls and a wine bar is in the middle of the room.  The rest of the room is filled with intimate tables to eat and enjoy wine.
I got the short rib with gnocchi and brussel spouts.  The red sauce was a wine reduction.  It was delicious.  The meat was tender and moist, the gnocchi were pan fried and salty, and the sprouts were tender and fresh.  Higher quality than I expected at a wine bar with a good beer selection.  TBG got the kobe, salami, bologna and cheese burger.  He liked it a lot, said it was a great combination of meats.  It doesn't look like much in the picture, but the coleslaw was good too, very fresh tasting.  The fries were parmesan garlic, tasty!  What we really went there for was the wine, so when everyone else that was meeting us there arrived we got wine!  TBG and the other guys got beer, but us girls got wine.  Then the table turned into a middle school dance with the guys talking about sports and beer on one side and the girls talking about clothes and wine on the other.

Later in the night we had to get something else to eat.  We got the fondue.  It had strawberries, marshmallow, and pound cake.  Perfect for a wine night!  The price of the food was reasonable because the quality was so good.  The wine was a little overpriced, but the retail bottles seem average priced.  The retail selection was good.  The beer in the bottles was reasonably priced, the selection was great.  The draft beers were a little pricey, but high quality.

Jimmy Biggs Grill - Cuyahoga Falls

Turkey Reuben and Fries
Jimmy Biggs Grill is a newer restaurant/bar in Cuyahoga Falls.  We have been here a couple times.  The food average, and smaller portion sizes.  The atmosphere is very hole in the wall.  TBG got a reuben and I got a turkey reuben.  They were both good.  If I lived in the neighborhood behind the place I would be there a lot.  Not sure how often we will make the effort to drive there.  They offer typical fried bar food, hamburgers, and other sandwiches.

Eddy's Grill - Cuyahoga Falls

This is our favorite place to go to breakfast.  The staff is always nice and the food is great.  They have a patio for the nicer days, but I don't think we have ever sat on it.  The restaurant is not big inside, but we have never waited long.  Decor is "hole in the wall", but the food makes up for any lack of decor.  There is no beer list, but never ending coffee is usually what we need anyway!  I have liked everything I have gotten here.  TBG always has to finish my plate so we order different things.  I like to get the egg sandwich on a bagel, but also love the eggs benedict, and the stuffed french toast.  TBG likes the eggs benedict and sometimes gets it with cajun steak.  We have visited a handful of times after breakfast and their lunch/dinner food is also good.  The pastrami and corned beef are homemade and good, and the sandwiches are huge.  The food always tastes fresh, and the service is fast.  There are usually coupons in the Town Money Saver.

Thai Gourmet - Stow

This small restaurant is tucked in a shopping center at the corner of Darrow Rd and Graham Rd.  I used to live up the street and didn't even realize this place was there.  There are probably a dozen tables in this cute restaurant.  I liked the decor, the chairs are big and comfortable and there are plenty of booths.  The service was a little slow, we waited 5 full minutes to be greeted at the table.  The beer list consisted of a couple standard domestics and a handful of Asian beers.  We started the meal with the spicy wontons.  The dough and sauce were great.  The filling was a little bland, but the sauce made up for it.  TBG got Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup (or his beloved pho), and I got the spicy  noodles.  The soup was not as good as #1 Pho, but wasn't bad.  The spicy noodles were good, perfect amount of spice for me, and lots of pork.

#1 Pho - Cleveland

Pho is a Vietnamese beef noodle soup.  It is delicious, but this happens to be the only place I have ever had it.  This is TBG's favorite pho.  I have nothing to compare to except that this is the only place in North East Ohio to get it.  There is a second place, Superior Pho, but it's across the street, so not any closer to my house!  I have not eaten anything else here, the beer list is Asian, but a large variety of Asian beers.  Sometimes the service is slow, but the last time we were there it went rather quick.  The large is very large, I get the small and still can't finish.  You can choose which cuts of beef you would like in your soup, it also comes out with a plate of toppings: bean sprouts, Thai basil, housin sauce, sricha, limes and jalapenos.

Tre Belle - Bath

Tre Belle is one of Ken Stewart's restaurants in the Akron area.  It is Italian themed, but was his same old stuff.
First came the bread... actually first came the server, but more on that later.  The bread was average, served with a roasted red pepper hummus that I liked.  The calamari was exactly the same as other Ken Stewart's restaurants, down to the pepper vinegar served with it.  But that is where the tolerable food ended.  TBG ordered the lamb ragu.  I had it there 2 years ago and I had been talking about it since.  Well, I do not know what is different but it was terrible.  Tasted like Chef Boyardee's Cincinnati Chili.  Not sure why there was so much cinnamon and the lamb was totally lost in a paste like substance on the ribbons of pasta with hard peas thrown in.
I ordered the puttanesca, which was on special and had mussels instead of anchovies.  Can't go wrong with the special right?  Well, wrong.  I have never had mussels that I did not like, but these were dry.  The pasta was not fresh and the sauce was average at best.

Neither one of us finished our meal, and I have never left a restaurant without TBG finishing his and my meal!
The wine list was way overpriced.  The cheap bottle of wine that we get to just have around the house costs us $8 without a case discount.  They were serving it for $9 a glass, and $36 for the bottle.  I have heard of charging 3 times more but 4.5?!  The beer list was average.  The server brought a high ball glass for TBGs Sam Adams.  What?  It wasn't even 12oz.
The server... Well, first off he acted like he did not want to be there.  That is one of my pet peeves.  You are at work, you work with people, get over it and act like you are trying to get a tip out of me!  It's not a given ya know.  Then, we asked him a question about the menu...  Imagine this convo:

TBG:  What is your Tuscan Mac & Cheese?
Aloof Server: Well, it has shell like noodles, yellow creamy like cheese.  Shaved speck, which is bacon, on top to make it Tuscany.  Ya know, if you like mac.  I prefer it with buffalo chicken tenders on top.
Us:  Umm, ok *awkward looks towards each other*

The atmosphere is actually good.  I enjoyed the Tuscan colors on the walls, old style tables, antipasto bar, and hanging lights.  This meal that we did not like, with a coupon was $60.  I have never felt so bad about spending $60, and I am addicted to shoes, some I have never worn!
