I have heard about Gasoline Alley since I moved into the area but never made it out there. It lived up to it's legend. It was smaller than I expected, with a small bar and handful of tables. The menu was large, I could not decide what I wanted. I ended up with the Rueben. I always get the Rueben at a new place. I feel like that is a staple sandwich and if it's great then the place must be good. This Rueben was good. The corned beef was tender, the 1000 island homemade, the sauerkraut, rye and swiss avg. I got my sandwich "Sissy" sized, which is just half the sandwich. TBG got the Sassy Sarah which was corned beef and pastrami with cream cheese. It was very good, the cream cheese was great with the beef. He got the full version. No sides come with the sandwiches. I got a cup of the New England Clam Chowder. It was great. Lots of big clams, soft (and hot!) potatoes. The food was a little pricey for the amount we got. It was good, homemade food, but we did not leave stuffed. The atmosphere was cluttered pictures and such on the walls. There was always something to look at and talk about.
